Back in October, it was reported that WhatsApp is working on the “Disappearing Messages” feature. We thought that it could be something to share secret information on conversations. Now the company has added this feature in lasted beta app with version 2.19.275 for Android and it is not we initially thought.
The feature is called “Delete messages” that lets users set the expiry time for the messages of a group. Users can select the time from 1 hour to 1 year. It will be applied to all group messages and messages will be deleted after the expiry time you select.
This feature is being added to keep give users control over the space app takes on the phone. Groups usually contain a lot of conversations and keeping older messages doesn’t make much sense.

A WhatsApp group can have up to 256 different participants. These kinds of groups get a lot of messages utilizing a large space on the phone. This feature could help a lot. Once the setting is applied, it will affect all members of the said group chat. Older messages from all the members will be deleted.
