Most people usually ask me what’s the use of wireless charging when we have to put the phone at a charging pad and we cannot use the phone unit it is charging. At least you can use the phone when it is on charging using a wired charger. So, wireless charging becomes more restrictive than wired charging.

But this is going to end soon with a new kind of wireless charger that won’t restrict you. Wi-Charge has announced its new ultra-compact PowerPuck that can charge compatible devices from up to 30 feet away.

PowerPuck can be installed into a wall outlet or screws into a lightbulb socket. Then it delivers power to compatible devices using safe and invisible IR light.

Once installed, PowerPuck can easily locate compatible receivers and initiates power transfer. The receivers can be as small as 0.5 x 0.5 inches.

The device doesn’t require any configuration, calibration or tuning. It uses infrared beam technology. It can deliver power to multiple devices at the same time. This device is also certified as a safe consumer device.

It is worth to note that Wi-Charge uses the line of sight to ensure that 100% energy is reaching the receiver. It is a safer way. Because when energy is bounced off a surface, a part of the energy is absorbed, reflected and scattered in all directions. It can reach people who will get unwanted radiation.
