Apple’s much-rumored 16-inch MacBook Pro has finally been announced. Apple calls it the world’s best pro notebook. It starts at $2,399.99 in the US. In India, it starts at Rs. 1,99,990 for the base 512GB model.

The 16-inch MacBook Pro comes with largest ever Retina display on any MacBook laptop and offers a resolution of 3072×1920 pixels. The display has been individually calibrated for gamma, white point, and primary color accuracy.

It packs Intel’s 9th Gen CPUs with six or eight cores, up to 64GB of RAM, and up to 8TB of storage. It also has 8GB of dedicated VRAM with AMD Radeon Pro 5000M graphics. Apple has also added a new thermal design to keep it cool even when it is being used heavily.

The laptop is for creators who want a powerful laptop for things like photo editing and video editing. Apple claims that this new 16-inch MacBook Pro is more powerful than the fastest quad-core 15-inch MacBook Pro. Photographers can apply complex edits to photographs 1.7 times faster in Photoshop and Xcode can compile code up to 1.8 times faster.

The laptop comes with a new keyboard and replaces the butterfly keyboard unveiled in 2015. This time the company has taken the scissor mechanism to power the keyboard and claims that the new keyboard offers 1mm travel for a more satisfying key feel. It will surely appease the professionals. Apple has finally added physical escape key back to the MacBook Pro keyboard by shortening the Touch bar.

The Trackpad and FaceTime camera are the same as in the previous model. It still comes with four USB-C ports. It still has Touch Bar, Touch ID, and the Apple T2 Security Chip.

It has a patented six-speakers sound system with Dolby Atmos support. The laptop also comes with a new high-performance microphone array. Apple claims that it delivers a 40 percent reduction in hiss and an improved signal-to-noise ratio similar to popular professional-grade digital microphones. It means you don’t need any USB mic for recording podcasts now.

Apple claims that the laptop gets 11 hours of battery life even after getting better performance. Apple has also introduced a faster USB-C charger that can charge it in just 2.5 hours. It is also heavy at 4.3 pounds but is only 0.3 pounds heavier than last year’s model.
