Popular ride-booking service Uber has launched a new public transport service in India starting with Delhi. Under this service, the company will let users book a carpool, solo rides or public transport through the app.

The company has partnered with DMRC to offer the service across 210 Delhi Metro stations.

“The results show that we are bringing new users to transit, and ultimately the growth of Uber and we can help all the time to really set the path for the future, and they can be part of the growth for public transit going together and we’re thrilled to be here. First in Asia, in Delhi, we know that we can bring this vision of being this operating system to your daily life together,” Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said.

With this new service, Uber wants to help users in reaching their destination from doorstep to doorstep. Passengers can also use Uber to enter and exit metro stations using an in-app travel card.

This is not the first time when DMRC has partnered with a company to offer passengers easy commute options after they end Metro ride. The company had earlier partnered with electric two-wheeler startups Yulu and qQuick to give passengers last-mile connectivity.

Delhi is the first city in Asia and the second in the Asia Pacific to get Uber Public Transport.
