Xiaomi has just launched its new budget phone Xiaomi Redmi 8 in the Indian market. The phone starts at Rs. 7999 and will be available Stores starting from October 12th.

Redmi 8 features 6.22-inch HD+ 19:9 2.5D curved glass display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The phone has P2i nano-coating for being Splash resistant. It was a water drop botch above the display and it has a fingerprint sensor located on the back panel. It has a beautiful Aura Mirror finish to make it look premium. The phone comes in four colors including Sapphire Blue, Ruby Red, Emerald Green, and Onyx Black colors.

The phone packs Octa-Core Snapdragon 439 12nm processor with Adreno 505 GPU. It will be available in 3GB RAM with 32GB storage and 4GB RAM with 64GB storage models. The phone has a dedicated microSD card slot to expand storage up to 512GB.

Redmi 8 has a dual camera with 12 megapixels primary camera with a Sony IMX363 sensor and f/1.8 aperture. It also has a secondary 2 megapixels depth camera. Xiaomi claims that the camera setup features AI scene detection for 33 scenes for offering a good photography experience. The phone has an 8 megapixels selfie camera with an f/2.0 aperture. The front camera also offers AI face unlock.

Connectivity options include Dual 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS + GLONASS, and USB Type-C. It packs 5000 mAh battery with support to 18W fast charging.

It will be sold from Flipkart, mi.com and Mi Home Stores starting from October 12th.

The 4G RAM variant will be sold at Rs. 7999 for the first 5 million units. It seems the company has no intention of selling the 3GB RAM model. By the time it could sell 5 million units, there will be the Redmi 9 in the market.
