OnePlus 7T Pro vs OnePlus 7 Pro: There’s no reason to upgrade

OnePlus 7T Pro vs OnePlus 7 Pro

A few hours back, OnePlus officially announced OnePlus 7T Pro at an event in London. I wrote a dedicated article talking about the specs. Soon after the phone launched, a couple of people asked me whether they should upgrade to OnePlus 7T Pro leaving their OnePlus 7 Pro.

OnePlus 7T Pro is the successor of OnePlus 7 Pro and just received a minor upgrade. If you are trying to figure out what are the key differences, keep reading.

The primary difference is the chipset. OnePlus 7T Pro comes with Snapdragon 855 Plus that offers a boost in performance, but Snapdragon 855 in OnePlus 7 Pro is still powerful enough to offer you a flagship-level performance.

The camera setup is exactly the same but OnePlus 7T Pro is getting laser autofocus for faster focusing even in low light. The camera specs remain the same. OnePlus 7T Pro comes with a triple camera setup that includes a 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor, a 16MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and an 8MP telephoto lens. The selfie camera is also the same 16 megapixels camera with a Sony IMX471 sensor.

Another minor difference is battery capacity. OnePlus 7T Pro comes with a 4085 mAh battery as compared to 4000 mAh battery in OnePlus 7. Here, the notable difference is the addition of Warp Charge 30T that offers around 23% faster charging speeds than the 30W charger bundled with OnePlus 7 Pro.

The successor still comes with the same 6.67 Fluid AMOLED 2K display with Gorilla Glass 6. OnePlus 7T Pro comes with Android 10 Out of the box but OnePlus 7 Pro is also getting Android 10 Upgrade.

The only major difference I could find was the Snapdragon 855+, but I still don’t find it a big reason to upgrade. I think that’s the reason OnePlus 7T Pro will not be landing in the US. India is a big market and it has thousands of OnePlus Fans who could buy this new model. If you already own OnePlus 7T, I do not recommend you to ditch your existing phone for OnePlus 7T Pro. Even I don’t recommend OnePlus 7T Pro. You can still go with OnePlus 7T and remain satisfied with your phone while saving a big amount at the same time.
