YouTube Music will replace Google Play Music to be the default music player on Android devices. Google has confirmed that the new change will be applicable to all new Android phones running Android 9 and Android 10.

“Music fans on Android phones can now easily unlock the magic of YouTube Music, which will come installed on all new devices launching with Android 10 (and Android 9), including the Pixel series,” Google said in an official blog post.

YouTube Music app will come pre-installed on all the new compatible Android phones. If you already use Google Play Music, you can download YouTube Music and sync your personal library.

If you do not want to ditch Google Play Music, you can keep using it. In case you buy a new phone that comes with YouTube Music, you can download Google Play Music from Play store.

Google is now slowing migrating features from Play Music to YouTube Music. When it has only a handful of Play Music users, we can expect the company to shut down the older music player.
