ROG Phone II

Asus has just launched its new gaming phone ROG Phone II in the Indian market. The phone starts at an aggressive price of Rs. Rs. 37999 and will be available starting from September 30th during Big Billion Days sale.

ROG Phone II is the successor of ROG phone launched last year but this phone comes with aggressive pricing without compromising in specs. This phone is a true successor with lots of improvements over its predecessor.

It has 6.59-inch Full HD+ 120Hz OLED 10-bit HDR display with Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection. The display is really amazing and is rated to show over a billion colors. Not just for gaming, this video is impressive for watching video content on different online streaming services.

ROG Phone II packs latest Octa-Core Snapdragon 855 Plus processor with Adreno 640 GPU. It has 3D vapor chamber to efficiently transfer heat away from the SoC. There are vents at the back to keep proper airflow. The phone comes with 8GB LPDDR4x RAM and 128GB (UFS 3.0) storage. There will also be a variant with 12 GB RAM and 512GB storage and will be launched in coming months.

The phone runs on Android 9.0 (Pie) with ROG UI but you have an option to use the clean Zen UI if you want.

It packs the same camera setup that we saw in Asus 6Z. I posted the Asus 6Z camera review if you want to see how this camera performs. It has a dual camera that includes 48 megapixels primary camera with Sony IMX586 sensor, f/1.79 aperture and 13 megapixels ultra-wide camera with f/2.4 aperture. This camera can also record 4K 60fps videos. The phone also has 24 megapixels front camera with f/2.0 aperture and supports EIS.

It has Dual front-facing 5-magnet speakers supporting Hi-Res audio, DTS Headphone:X 7.1 virtual surround sound for headphone. It also has a Quad mics setup with noise-cancellation.

The phone has In-display fingerprint sensor just like other flagships of this segment. Connectivity options include Dual 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11ac dual-band (2×2 MU-MIMO ) / 802.11ad 60GHz, Bluetooth 5, GPS/GLONASS/Beidou, Galileo(E1+E5a), QZSS(L1+L5), USB Type-C and NFC. So, there’s no compromise on the connectivity front.

It also packs large 6000mAh battery with support to 30W HyperCharge fast charging and 30W QC4.0. So, the phone not just offers a bug battery but also charges it faster. The base variant comes with 18W charger in the box

The 12 GB RAM variant will offer 30W charger and AeroActive Cooler II in the box. It is priced at Rs. 59,999 and will be avail in the coming months.
