Huawei Mate 30 Pro with 6.53-inch OLED Display, Kirin 990, Quad-camera Goes Official

Huawei has just launched Mate 30 series including Mate 30, Mate 30 Pro and Mate 30 Pro 5G. In this article, I will be talking about Mate 30 Pro and Mate 30 Pro 5G. The phone comes with high-end camera setup and waterfall display.

Huawei Mate 30 Pro comes with a 6.53-inch Flex OLED Horizon Display that the company calls waterfall screen. The panel has curves at an 88-degree angle, higher than the curvature of Samsung’s Galaxy Note 10 lineup. The display supports DCI-P3 wide color gamut and HDR 10. The phone has no bezels on the sides but has a tiny bottom bezel along with a notch for the selfie camera.

The notch includes 32 megapixels selfie camera, a 3D depth camera and a gesture sensor for hands-free control. It has 3D Face Unlock and supports gesture controls that let you flick before a Mate 30 Pro to scroll up/down and pinch to capture a screenshot. The speaker unit is under the display similar to the P30 Pro.

The phone packs Huawei’s. Newly launched Kirin 990 Chipset built using 7nm EUV process node. This chipset has two Cortex-A76 higher performance cores clocked at 2.86 GHz, two other Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.36 GHz and four Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 1.95GHz. It also has 16-core Mali G76 GPU, dual-NPUs and Balong 5000 5G modem. It packs 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.

The phone runs on Android 10 out-of-the-box but doesn’t run on licensed version of Android. It is an AOSP fork that won’t come with Google’s apps and services. It comes with a dark mode that will also force dark mode in apps that don’t support the darker theme. It also features with Huawei laptops. multi-screen collaboration.

The phone has a Quad-camera setup that includes 40 megapixels primary Sony IMX600 RYYB sensor with f/1.8 aperture, OIS along with 40 megapixels ultra-wide-angle sensor, 8 megapixels telephoto camera for 3x optical zoom and a time-of-flight (TOF) sensor. Huawei claims that the primary sensor captures 40% more light as compared to other sensors. Huawei claims that it gets 137% more light intake than the iPhone 11 Pro Max’s camera. The camera comes with maximum ISO 409600 and offers 45x zooming range

The camera can also record 7680 fps ultra slow-mo videos. The company also demonstrated the slo-mo videos shot at 1920 fps. This camera can capture real-time Cinematic bokeh video, 4K cinematic time-lapses, ultra-stable recording with Huawei AIS (OIS+EIS+AI), ultra-wide timelapse, ultra low-light videos and a lot more.

The phone has 21 antennas in total out of those, 14 antennas are for 5G connectivity. It supports the most number of 5G bands and offers dual-SIM 5G-enabled calling experience.

The phone packs large 4500 mAh battery that supports 40W wired SuperCharge and 27W wireless fast-charging. Huawei has also packed the phone with Graphene Film Cooling Technology to keep the temperature of the phone 3.9-degrees cooler as compared to other flagships.

Huawei Mate 30 Pro starts at 1,099 euros for 8GB+256GB base variant without 5G connectivity. If you want 5G variant, it will be available at 1,199 euros.

The phone comes in four different colors including Space Silver, Cosmic Purple, Emerald Green, and black. Mate 30 Pro also has IP68 water/dust resistance.
