Google has officially announced that it has added a new payment option on Google Play Store for users in India. So, users can now pay for in-app purchases, apps or games using your preferred UPI app.
The option is not yet available and will be rolled out gradually. So, it will show up as a payment option on the Play Store in India.
For using UPI, users will need to link their UPI id in Google Play Store billing and use their bank account for purchases from Play Store.
“Indian app developers are already building successful businesses on the Google Play Store offering a range of great apps across categories, and we are committed to helping them grow,” Saurabh Agarwal, Head of Google Play Retail and Payments Activation – India, Vietnam, and New Zealand, said in a statement.
Since its inception, UPI has become very popular among users in India. Now it has crossed MasterCard to become the most preferred payment option in India. Google also launched its UPI based payment app Gogole Tez and then renamed it to Google Pay.
