Google has just announced that Gmail app for Android ad iOS will be getting a dark theme soon. It has already started rolling out the dark theme for Gmail app starting today.

Dark mode

Here’s how you can enable the dark theme Gmail on Android and iOS.

If you own a phone running on Android 10, you can enable the dark theme in two ways. Either go to Android Display system setting and set the dark theme. Gmail will automatically adopt that. Or Open Gmail app, go to Settings > Theme and select “Dark”.

On Pixel devices, Gmail will automatically adopt a dark theme when Battery Saver is enabled.

In case you are using an iOS device, you will see the Dark Theme option under Settings under iOS 11 or 12. If your phone runs on iOS 13, you can either use the Dark theme of iOS or open Gmail app, go to Settings > Theme and select “Dark”.

Google has started rolling out a dark theme for both Android and iOS devices. It may take a few days to reach all the supported devices.
