Asus has just announced its next gaming phone ROG Phone 2. This is the successor of ROG Phone and comes with lots of improvements over the predecessor.

ROG Phone 2 comes with a 6.59-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with no notch or hole. The refresh rate has also been improved from 90 Hz to 120Hz. It also has a 1 ms response time. The display also boasts HDR10 support and 240Hz response. The phone has considerable top and bottom bezel but minimally trimmed as compared to previous ROG Phone. It has dual firing stereo speakers same as in the predecessor.

As expected, the phone packs Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset paired with 12 GB RAM. It also offers up to 256GB of UFS 3.0 storage. It has a vapor chamber, copper heat spreader and graphite pads for heat dissipation.

It has the same Ultrasonic, pressure-sensitive Air Trigger buttons we saw in previous ROG phone, but the vibration latency has been reduced by 68% from 63ms to 20ms.

It runs slimmed versos of Zen UI that we saw in Asus 6Z but you have an option to switch to ROG UI for getting the gaming phone feel. The Game Center has been renamed to Armory Crate. It shows RAM, CPU usage and temperature of the device. You can also control the fan speed and also control the light-up ROG logo. There’s also the Game Genie to manage notifications, incoming calls and locking the brightness when you are gaming.

The phone has a dual camera setup that is same we saw in Asus 6z. The camera setup has a 48MP (f/1.79) primary lens and a secondary 13MP ultra-wide-angle lens. It also has a 24 megapixels front camera.

It packs large 6000mAh battery with 30W fast-charging. There’s extra side-port so you can comfortably use the phone in landscape and charge concurrently. Asus calms that you can play PUBG Mobile for about 7.1 hours at 60Hz.

The company has not announced the pricing of ROG Phone 2 but confirmed that it will be priced similar to the previous ROG phone. It will be launched in China tomorrow in partnership with Tencent while the global launch is set for the first week of September.
