Realme X first impressions

Realme X

Earlier today, Realme announced its most expensive phone Realme X in the Indian market. This phone claims to offer flagship level experience in a. Low price. This phone has a premium design with a pop-up selfie camera, 48 MP primary camera and Snapdragon 710. With this phone, Realme also hops to compete against Xiaomi’s Redmi K20, which is set to make its debut in India soon.

Realme X has a plastic build with a glossy finish. I used the Polar white variant, but the phone also comes in a gradient color option that has shiny purple and blue colors. The Polar white variant looks simple but the other one looks really beautiful.

The front side is mostly the display with very narrow bezels at the top and sides. There’s nothing to interrupt your viewing experience. Neither a notch or a hole.

Realme X has a power button and SIM card slot on the right side. The left side has a volume rocker. The base side has speaker, Type-C and a headphone jack. The top side has secondary noise cancellation mic and pop-up selfie camera. The back side has a vertical dual camera set up at the top center side and Readme branding at the bottom side of the back panel.

The phone isn’t slippery, so it is comfortable to use. Readme also bundles a plastic case that is an advantage.

It comes with 6.53-inches display offering FHD+. It is good to see the AMOLED panel that offers sharp colors. The display is really good, offers nice viewing angles and works fine in both indoors and outdoors.

Realme X

The phone packs Octa Core Snapdragon 710 processor with Andreno 616 GPU. This setup is powerful for a smooth performance. Day to day tasks are smooth and there should be no problem. This phone is also good for gaming. The phone offers 4GB or 8 GB RAM. The 8GB RAM variant will offer multitasking. So decide based on your usage. It is good to see that Realme is offering 128GB storage even in the base model.

The phone has a dual camera setup that includes a 48 megapixels primary camera with Sony IMX586 sensor and f/1.7 aperture. There is also a 5 megapixels secondary camera. The camera features AI scene detection, Chroma Boost, and Nightscape features. I haven’t tested this camera properly, but it looks good in initial impressions. There’s also a pop-up selfie camera module that includes a 16 megapixels camera with Sony IMX471 sensor. The company claims that this pop-up front camera takes 0.74 seconds in launching, but I personally feel it slower than other pop-up selfie camera phones I have seen in the past.

Realme X

The phone has an under-display fingerprint sensor that works fine and unlocks the phone quickly. It has face unlock, but that won’t be much fast due to the pop-up selfie camera.

The phone also features Dolby Atmos for good audio experience. With good display and good audio, this phone is a treat for those who love to watch movies and web series on smartphones.

It has Dual 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 5 and USB Type-C. The packs 3765mAh battery that also supports VOOC 3.0 fast charging.

This phone impresses in so many things. Even if it has plastic build, it looks good and feels premium. It is powerful enough to enjoy high-end games like PUBG Mobile. You get a good camera setup and fast charging support. Unlock Xiaomi, Realme doesn’t ask you to buy a fast charger separately. So, overall I really liked this device. I have yet to test it before giving my final verdict. So, I cannot tell you how the battery and camera actually perform.
