Asus Zenfone 6 with a 6.4-inch display, Snapdragon 855, flip camera announced

Asus has just announced its latest flagship phone Asus Zenfone 6 at an event in Spain. The phone comes with high-end specs but the most notable thing in the phone is its flip camera module.

Zenfone 6 comes with a dual camera setup that acts as both rear and front camera. When you want to capture a selfie, the camera module flips around (a full 180 degree) the top edge of the device to act as a front camera. You can also set it at any angle between to shoot. This flip module for the camera includes Gravitational sensor, Gyro Sensor, Camera sensor, Hall sensor, and Upper speaker. The full clip takes just 1 second. The phone can also recognize when it is free falling and retracts the camera to keep it safe.

This module houses a 48-megapixel primary camera with f/1.79 aperture and 13 megapixels wide-angle camera. You can either capture photos at full 48 megapixels resolution or capture optimized 12-megapixels shots in low light.

The phone can also record 4K at 60fps and comes with EIS. As the rear camera also acts as the front camera, this is the first phone to offer 4K 60fps videos from selfie camera.

As the phone has a flip camera, there is nothing that prevents Asus from offering a full frontal display. So, there is no notch and bezels are also very thin. Asus Zenfone 6 comes with an impressive 92% screen-to-body ratio. It has a 6.4-inch LCD display that can achieve 600 nits of peak brightness. The display also has Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection.

The phone runs on Android 9 Pie with ZenUI 6. Zen UI 6 isn’t heavy. Asus has also reduced bloatware. The company has also kept good features of Zen UI. It also has a dark mode. The new Zen UI is faster than ever. Asus has also confirmed that the phone will get Android Q and Android R updates in the near future. It has octa-core Snapdragon 855. It comes in 6GB RAM with 64GB storage, 6GB RAM with 128GB storage and 8GB RAM with 256GB Storage models.. Storage is also expandable up to 2TB.

This flagship phone keeps the headphone jack. It also has a multifunction button that the company calls Smart Key. You can use it to launch Google Assistant or trigger other shortcuts as per your choice.

The fingerprint sensor is located on the back panel. It also offers 4G VoLTE, WiFi, Bluetooth 5 and USB Type-C.

The phone packs massive 5000 mAh battery and supports 18-watt Quick Charge 4.0 technology. So, you can easily get up to 2 days of backup. Asus claims that the hone offers 21 hours of nonstop web browsing over Wi-Fi.
