Qualcomm Announces Snapdragon 730 & Snapdragon 730G

Along with Snapdragon 665, Qualcomm has also announced Snapdragon 730 & Snapdragon 730G mobile platforms.

Snapdragon 730 chipset is the successor to the Snapdragon 710 announced last year. It upgrades CPU microarchitecture to Kryo 470 based on Arm’s Cortex A76 CPU µarch. High speed 2 cores are clocked at 2.2GHz while other 8 cores are clocked a 1.8GHz. This chip is coupled with a new graphics chip called the Adreno 618.

Snapdragon 730 delivers about 25 percent and 35 percent faster graphics rendering and CPU performance compared with the Snapdragon 710

Snapdragon 730 features Qualcomm’s 4th generation multi-core AI engine that gets the support of Hexagon Tensor Accelerator (HTA) for enhanced on-device capabilities.

Qualcomm has also added Spectra 350. It supports up to 22MP dual cameras and 192MP single cameras. It also supports 4K HDR video capture.

Snapdragon 730 supports true HDR mobile gaming with 10-bit color depth and offers higher power efficiency for improved battery life.

Snapdragon 730 SoC is WiFi6 ready. It also includes X15 LTE modem that offers download speeds up to 800Mbps

Snapdragon 730G is a variant of Snapdragon 730 that has over-clocked GPU to offer 25% faster graphics rendering.

Snapdragpn 730G offers 10-bit color depth and 1 billion shades of color. It also supports displays up to QHD+. It comes with few additional camera features features such as Cinemagraph Video, Object Segmentation and HD slo-mo video at 960fps.

These new chipsets are expected to be available in commercial devices in mid-2019.
