Microsoft has quietly refreshed its Surface Book 2 base model. Now it comes with Intel’s latest 8th Gen quad-core i5 processor. It includes i5-8350U with clock speed up to 3.6GHz. The refreshed model costs $1499 while the dual-core 7th Gen model now comes at a discounted price of $1,299.

Surface Book 2 was announced with eighth-generation quad-core processors but only for Core i7 models. Today’s change is only for the Core i5 model that was launched with seventh-generation, dual-core chip.

The new 13.5-inch Surface Book 2 comes with Intel Core i5-8350U quad-core processor along with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. The higher number of cores with a slightly higher turbo frequency of 3.60GHz ensures better performance. The new Core i5-8350U also has 6MB of smart cache.

There have been rumors that the company was planning to refresh the Surface Book 2, but the company didn’t create any buzz. New models are now available form retailers.

Now if you buy Surface Book 2, you get options for a Core i5, a Core i5 (8th Gen), and a Core i7. It means the sale on the seventh-gen model will still be there and I hope it will also until it sells out.
