Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro Impressions

Redmi Note 7 Pro

Today, Xiaomi launched its two new smartphones Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 7 Pro in India. The Redmi Note 7 Pro starts at Rs. 13990 and this is really aggressive pricing considering the specs of the phone.

Finally Xiaomi has changed the design of its Note series smartphones. The new design is called Aura design and it features glass back offering gradient color options. So, the phone looks really beautiful and all color options are good.

It has the full frontal display that Xiaomi calls Dot View display for dot like notch. The Power button and volume rocker are on the right side while the SIM tray is on the left side. The base side has speaker grille and the USB Type-C port. The top side has 3.5mm audio jack and the IR blaster.

At the back, it has the vertically-aligned dual-camera setup with an LED flash at the top left corner. The fingerprint sensor is in the middle followed by Redmi branding at the bottom. Both the front and back sides use 2.5D Gorilla Glass 5 for durability. But I still recommend a good case to protect it.

While the phone looks really beautiful you will be forced to hide the beautiful glass design behind a solid case. That’s true.

The phone has 6.3-inch with a Full HD+ display that looks really good. Be it the brightness, viewing angles or color reproduction, I liked it. The compan has also added sunlight display feature for better outdoor visibility.

The phone runs on MIUI 10 based on Android 9.0 Pie out of the box.

Xiaomi has packed the phone with an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 processor. This new processor is quite powerful and it becomes the first phone of this segment to offer it. While I have not yet tested the power of it, I am hopeful after seeing the benchmarks. You get two models having 4GB RAM with 64GB storage and 6GB RAM with 128GB storage. You can expand storage, but it uses Hybrid slot for that.

Camera is the most hyped feature of the phone and most controversial as well. The phone has a dual camera that includes 48 megapixels primary Sony IMX586 sensor with f/1.8 aperture and 5 megapixels secondary camera. But here is a catch. You can take 48 megapixels photos but only in Pro mode. In normal mode, you will get 12 megapixels shots. It also has 13 megapixels front camera. It also features EIS for stable videos. I captured a few shots that look good, but that is not enough to claim anything about the camera.

It has fingerprint sensor and supports Face unlock.

The phone packs 4,000mAh battery with Quick Charge 4.0. But the phone will come only with 10W charger. You will have to buy the 18W charger separately for using the fast charging.

Redmi note 7 is the first launch of year and Xiaomi came with a blast. Xiaomi’s aggressive pricing has already made it best in this segment in terms of specs. This phone has everything that you may look in a phone. I personally liked it and will try to get this phone in sales for review. Let me know if you guys are interested in the review.

What do you guys think about Redmi Note 7 Pro, let me know in comments?
