Realme 3 First Impressions
Today, Realme launched its new smartphone Realme 3 as an upgrade to Realme 2 launched last year. The new phone comes with a smaller notch, faster processor, improved camera and better design. I was at the launch event and spent some time
Realme 3 comes with a beautiful and attractive design. The designs inspired by the dynamic milky way because it has starry particles on the back of the phone. The phone has a unibody design with a gradient color. It comes in three different beautiful colors. The back panel offers glitter effect when light falls at certain angles.
The successor comes with dew drop notch above the display. It has a power button on the right side. The left side has volume rocket along with triple card slot that includes two nano SIM slots and a microSD card slot. The base side has a speaker, micro USB, and headphone jack. The back panel has
The build quality looks good and it feels really premium.
Realme 3 comes with 6.2-inch HD+ IPS LCD display with 19:9 aspect ratio. The display also has Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The display offers good colors and nice viewing angles. The brightness of the display is also fine. But the Full HD+ could make this phone even better.
The phone runs on ColorOS 6 based on Android 9 Pie. The new UI comes with lots of improvements and new animations. The phone also comes with the
The phone packs 2.1 GHz MediaTek Helio P70 12nm processor with Mali-G72 MP3. Helio P70 is a good chipset offering nice performance. It is the same chipset that was also in Realme U1. The phone offers two models including 3GB RAM with 32GB storage and 4GB RAM with 64GB storage. You can also expand the storage up to 256GB.
It has dual camera that includes 13-megapixel primary with f/1.8 aperture and 2 megapixels secondary depth camera with f/2.4 aperture. The camera has AI scene recognition. The Chroma Boost mode uses AI to improve photos. The company has also introduces the Nightscape mode that claims to offer improved low light performance.
I didn’t get enough time to check the camera properly. I captured a few shots and found it to be good. I will try to get this phone for review and will see if this camera is the same as the company claims.
The phone supports Camer2API, so you can use all third-party camera apps including Gcam on the phone.
The phone has fingerprint sensor on the back that is fast in unlocking the phone. It also supports Face Unlock.
It supports Dual 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, and GPS connectivity. The phone packs 4230mAh battery that is the same as in predecessor. It comes with a 10W charger.
Realme 3 starts at Rs. 8999. At this price, the phone will directly compete against Redmi Note 7. Redmi Note 7 has better display, slightly better processor, USB type-C and support for fast charging. Realme 3 has a larger battery and it looks more beautiful that Redmi Note 7. I do not want to claim anything about camera performance without proper testing.
