Vivo V15 Pro is not cheap but it also has lots of things to boast. The company has borrowed features pop-up camera from its flagship Vivo phone to offer full view display without notch. I spent a few hours with the phone and here are my initial impressions.

Vivo V15 Pro looks really premium. The back panel of the phone features a gradient finish. It used the Blue color variant that looks purple on wide angles. The back panel has a triple camera setup where sensors are aligned vertically.

The phone has no notch body, so it uses the pop-up camera mechanism for the front camera. When you switch to selfie camera in the camera app or use the facial scan, it will open automatically. It has light and ambient sensors placed under the screen, but it works flawlessly.

The right side of the phone has volume controls along with the power button. The left side has a dedicated button to invoke the Google Assistant. The base side of the phone features a dual SIM slot, micro USB port, and speaker grille. Here micro USB is disappointing and Vivo could use USB Type-C.

The phone features a 6.39-inch Full HD+ Ultra FullView Super AMOLED display with 2.5D curved glass display. The display is quire good, offers nice colors and good viewing angles. Video experience on this display was also impressive.

The phone runs on FunTouch OS based on Android 9.0 Pie. The user interface has been improved but it is still the weakest thing of the phone. People still avoid Vivo just because they hate its software experience. But Vivo tried hard to improve animations and make it faster than before.

The phone has a triple camera setup that includes 48 megapixels primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture, 5 megapixels depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture and 8 megapixels 120-degree Super wide-angle camera with f/2.4 aperture. It also has 32 megapixels front camera with f/2.0 aperture. The camera on the phone is really impressive. The camera has AI Super Night Mode that I couldn’t test. I will try to get this phone for review and see if its camera delivers what it promises. Here are a few selfie samples I captured on the phone.

The phone has under-display fingerprint sensor that works well. It is faster than the predecessor. Vivo claims that it takes just 0.37 seconds to unlock the phone. It also features Face Unlock that is fast. Vivo claims that it scans 1024 facial points and unlocks in just 0.55 seconds.

The phone has Dual 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 ac dual-band, Bluetooth 5, GPS/GLONASS, and Micro USB connectivity.

The phone has 3700 mAh battery with Dual-Engine fast charging. Without testing, I don’t want to claims anything about the battery back up but I guess it should offer a full day backup.

Vivo V15 Pro is impressive in terms of looks and performs well. The phone has a good camera setup. At this price, this phone will be competing against Asus Zenfone 5Z, Nokia 8.1, and Xiaomi Poco F1. As the phone will be available in online and offline both, it has good chances of getting consumers.
