It seems Google is finally adding the dual SIM support in next gen Pixel devices. It was confirmed by a comment on a source code change for Android Q. The comment states that the 2019 Pixel devices will have dual SIM functionality.

Pixel phones have dual SIM support since the Pixel 2 but it offers one SIM card slot and second SIM support is provided by an eSIM. The eSIM support is limited in the world. So, not all people can actually use the dual SIM option in existing Pixel devices.

Current Pixel devices also use the Dual SIM Single Standby. So, you cannot use both SIMs at the same time. You will have to switch between the two networks to receive calls and messages.

Most of the dual SIM Android phones and even the 2018 iPhones use is Dual SIM Dual Standby. So, there is no need to switch network.

The code comment for Android Q suggest that the next Pixel device will have Dual SIM Dual Standby. Hopefully, Pixel 3 will also get it when it gets Android Q.
