Oppo K1 Camera review

Oppo K1 is a good mid-range phone with premium design and good specs. The phone has nice camera setups. So, I decided to put a dedicated camera review of Oppo K1.

Before I talk about the performance, let’s have a look at the camera hardware.

Rear camera setup

It has a dual camera on the back with 16 megapixels primary camera having F/1.75 aperture and Sony IMX398 Exmor RS sensor along with 2 megapixels secondary camera with f/2.4 aperture. Dual LED flash is also there to help in low-light.

Front camera setup

It has 25 megapixels front camera with f/2.0 aperture and the display flash option for low light.

The camera app is pretty straightforward and minimal. Not many options are there. It has camera modes including Time-lapse, Video, Photo, Portrait, Sicker, Pano, and Expert. Expert is the Pro mode for those who knows how to use camera settings manually. There are also several camera effects to try. Beauty mode is available for both rear and front camera.

In daylight, Oppo K1 performs good and photos come with good detail. The phone features AI scene detection to optimize the colors according to the scene. So, Photos have good colors and sharpness is also quite well. Dynamic range is also good. Some images were oversaturated but overall performance is good.

Indoor photos are also good if there is proper light around. Low light photos are average, still, it depends on the light around. Photos captured with short distance turn out to be good but photos from a distance lack details.

Portrait mode does a good job in background separation, but edge detection needs improvement. It also comes with different portrait lighting option for those who want to use it.

The phone takes good selfies. The AI beauty ode is available that smoothes skin and enhances selfies. It also offers portrait mode for selfie camera that works fine. Low light selfies lack detail, still, it is better than other phones of this price.

The phone can record up to 4K videos. 4K video quality is average and video turns out to be shaky due to lack of EIS or OIS. The 1080p video is better and comparatively less shaky but I am not sure if there is the EIS for 1080p. Found no official mention of EIS.

The front camera can record 1080p. Video quality recorded from front camera is also good and the video was considerably stabilized.

Overall Oppo K1 is a good camera phone of this segment. Specially the selfie camera impresses to make it the best choice for selfie lovers. You have seen the camera samples, to decide by yourself and also let us know if you liked the camera of the phone.
