Nokia 9 PureView announced with HDR 10 display, Five rear cameras with ZEISS Optics and in-display fingerprint sensor

HMD Global just announced its much-awaited Nokia 9 PureView smartphone featuring 5 cameras on the back and in-display fingerprint sensor.

Let me first discuss its 5 different rear cameras. The phone has a penta camera setup with 12 megapixels primary camera along with two 12 megapixels RGB cameras and three 12 megapixels monochrome lenses. The company claims that it collects up to 10-times the amount of light than a single colour sensor. The camera setup also has ZEISS Optics.

Nokia claims that it can also produce photos with up to 240-megapixel resolution. The company also claims that the device can preserve detail within 12.4 stops of dynamic range.

The cameras cannot do any level of optical zoom because the company focuses on HDR and depth based photography. Photos captured using Nokia 9 PureView can be depth-edited after the fact by tapping anywhere on the photo. Photos can have multiple focal points in bokeh shots.

This camera array was developed in partnership with Light, the company that also made a 16-lens L16 camera.

Nokia 9 PureView features a 5.99-inch Quad HD pOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. It runs on Android 9.0 (Pie) out of the box. It is powered by 2.8GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 845 64-bit 10nm Mobile Platform with Adreno 630 GPU. It also has 6GB LPDDR4x RAM and 128GB (UFS) storage.

The phone is IP67 rated for being water resistant. It also has the under-display sensor to be the first Nokia phone to do so.

The phone has single speaker with smart amp and 3 x mics with spatial recording. It features Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 5, GPS/ GLONASS, and USB Type-C.

Nokia 9 PureView packs 3320mAh battery with 18W fast charging and Wireless Charging.

It comes in Midnight Blue color option. Dimensions measure 155 x 75 x 8 mm and it weighs 172g.
