LG has announced its flagship phone LG G8 ThinQ at its MWC event. The phone is powerful in terms of specs but still features a wide notch. It also comes with few cool interesing features that we have’t yet seen in any of the smartphones.

LG G8 ThinQ features 6.1-inch (3120 x 1440 pixels) 19.5:9 FullVision OLED Display.

The phone comes with Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 7nm processor with Adreno 640 GPU. It has 6GB LPDDR4x RAM and 128GB (UFS 2.1) storage with an option to expand storage up to 2TB.

LG G8 ThinQ comes with triple camera that includes 12 megapixels (f/1.5) camera, 16 megapixels (f/1.9) super wide camera and 12 megapixels (f/2.4) telephoto camera. The phone also features 8 megapixels (f/1.7) front camera along with 3D ToF camera to measure distance between the subject and the camera. It can control the intensity of the background blur up to 256 levels for selfies.

The phone comes with an interesting feature called “Air Motion” that lets users end calls, take screenshots, switch between applications, and adjust the volume without touching the phone. It is like waving and pinching above your G8 ThinQ.

The phone has 3D Face unlock along that uses ToF camera. It also has fingerprint sensor located on rear panel. Another interesting feature of the phone is Hand ID to unlock. This feature recognises the shape, thickness and other individual characteristics of the veins in the palms of your hands. The IR sensor gathers information from the hemoglobin in your blood and renders a unique image of your veins inside your hand. It doesn’t work as fast as Face Unlock or Fingerprint sensor, but surly a cool feature that will improve with the time.

The phone is water resistant with IP68 rating and is MIL-STD 810G certified for offering military grade durability.

The phone has Boombox Speaker that can offer stereo output with new Crystal Sound OLED (CSO) technology that utilizes the phone’s OLED display as an audio amplifier. It also has DTS:X, 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC and Master Quality Authenticated (MQA) technology.

It includes 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz and 5GHz), Bluetooth 5 LE, GPS, NFC, and USB Type-C 2.0 (3.1 compatible) connectivity options. The phone also packs 3,500mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 support.

LG G8 ThinQ comes in Carmine Red, New Aurora Black, and New Moroccan Blue colors and weighs 167g.

LG has not confirmed any availability dates or pricing yet.
