In recent years, Asus has tested several unique designs in laptops. It added touch screen by replacing touchpad, experimented with different kind of hinge, made display bezel less, and now released a detachable gaming laptop.

Asus’s ROG Mothership GZ700 is not like any other gaming laptop. When it is closed, you won’t find anything different. But it becomes something very unique when you open and deploy it. When you open it, it causes a rear kickstand to pop out.

The keyboard is detachble ad folds to fit different scenarios. So, you have a freedom to find the perfect position. The keyboard is Backlit and features RGB lightning. Keys have 2.5mm travel distance. This design also leaves enough space for speakers located right below the screen. It has 4 speakers with power of 4W in each and features smart AMP technology.

The laptop has large 17.3” Full HD IPS-level display with a 144Hz refresh rate and 3ms GTG response time. It also features NVIDIA G-SYNC technology. It packs Intel core i9-8950HK processor and GeForce RTX 2080 GPU with 8GB GDDR6 VRAN. It includes SO-DIMM slots for up to 64GB of DDR4 RAM. It also includes three M.2 slots running at Gen 3. x4 PCIe.

Asus has also added Realtek 2.5Gbps ethernet chip along with 802.11ax networking chip and Bluetooth 5.0. It comes with 1 Thunderbolt 3, 1 USB Type-C, 3 USB Type A, 1 HDMI 2.0, 1 audio jack, 1 microphone jack, 1 Ethernet port and 1 SD card reader. Asus also uses two power bricks to run it.

The laptop is heavy and weighs 4.7 Kg.

It is expected to ship in April. Asus also didn’t disclose the price of this laptop.
