Asus Zenfone Max M2 Impressions and first look

Asus Zenfone Max M2 is the successor of Zenfone Max M1 launched back in October. The new phone comes with upgraded specifications to offer better performance. I have been using this device for 3 days and here is the first impression of the based on short usage. 

Here is the Price details of all the veariant of Asus Zenfone Max M2:

• 3GB RAM and 32GB Internal Storage variant: Rs. 9,999 
• 4GB RAM and 64GB Internal Storage variant: Rs. 11,999 

The phone has plastic build with a metallic finish. There are not many changes in looks but the position of ports is not the same. The display is same as in its predecessor but this time it is bigger, has a notch and screen to body ratio is also better. The volume rocker and power button sit on the right while the left side has a triple slot to hold two nano SIM and a microSD card. The top side has a headphone jack and a secondary microphone. The Base side has micro USB port, primary mic, and speaker.

The Back panel has dual camera setup with LED flash located on the top left side. The Fingerprint sensor is at the top center. The phone is easy to hold due to curvy edges. It is a bit slippery and you get a protective case within the box. The phone is 7.7 mm thick and weight is 160 grams. Unlike Max Pro M2, the display of Max M2 doesn’t feature any display protection.

It has 6.26-inch HD+ Display with a notch. The display has a 19:9 aspect ratio. It has good brightness and nice viewing angles. The display is good and performs well.

The phone comes with stock Android 8.1 Oreo with no skin at the top. So, you get a pure Android experience. A Few bloatware but that are actually essential apps.

The phone comes with 1.8GHz Snapdragon 632 processor with Adreno 506GPU. Considering it to be a sub Rs. 10000 phone, this setup is actually good. I have been using the phone for 2 days and its performance is quite impressive. There are actually two RAM and storage models including 3GB RAM with 32GB storage and 4GB RAM with 64GB storage. You can also expand storage up to 2TB. Similar to other Asus phones, 100 GB Google Drive promotional offer is also included.

It has a dual camera setup that includes 13 megapixels primary camera with f/1.8 aperture and 2 megapixels secondary camera. It also has 8 megapixels front camera with soft Light flash at the front. The camera app has a few modes including the PRO mode. The camera can also record 4K videos and supports EIS. Here are few camera samples to look at. The phone has 5-magnet Speaker with NXP SmartAmp. Its audio performance is really good. Speaker is loud and sound output is good. The fingerprint sensor is fast and accurate. The face unlock is also accurate but slow and takes around 2 seconds in unlocking the phone.

The phone had dual Sim support with both slots support 4G VoLTE. Other connectivity options are Bluetooth 4.2, WiFi, micro USB and GPS.

The phone packs 4000 mAh battery and comes with 10W charger. The battery should perform well and you can easily get 2 days battery backup. I will tell you exact battery backup and charging time in the full review of the phone.

Zenfone Max M2 looks good and offers good specs for the price it comes. So, this phone also has the capability to get good attention of consumers.
