Before I talk about camera performance, here is the camera hardware.

  • Rear camera: 12 megapixels f/1.9 aperture and 5 megapixels f/2.2 depth camera with dual LED flash
  • Front camera: 20 megapixels f/2.0 camera and 2 megapixels f/2.2 depth camera with a screen flash

The camera app is the same but it has received a few notable features as part of MIUI 10. The camera app has several modes including the manual mode. There are also few camera effects to try. Now you can adjust bokeh level any time later after capturing photos. It also has a Portrait Lighting option and Light trail.

In daylight when the light is enough, it captures really good shots. Images have good details and fine sharpness. Color accuracy is also impressive. There is also an Auto HDR mode that does a good job. Check all the camera samples here.

Portrait mode also does a good job but still not as good on edge detection as company claims.

The camera impresses even in low light and captures nice photos. The images have less noise as compared to other phones of this segment. And most of the times, it reproduces accurate colors.

Selfie camera is also really good at capturing photos. Beauty mode and portrait mode both do a decent job. INdoor selfies are also fine but selfies taken in ultra lowlight with help of screen flash are average. Here are the camera samples.

You can record up to 1080p at 30 fps. Lack of 4K is certainly a disappointment. If I talk about video recording quality, it is good as well. EIS does an impressive job in stabilizing the video. The front camera can also record 1080p videos and recording quality is good.

Redmi Note 6 Pro does a better job in camera department than its predecessor. It is good in both daylight and low light. Video recording capability has also been improved and EIS does a good job. So, overall Redmi Note 6 Pro is a good camera phone under Rs. 15000 segment.

You have checked the camera samples, so you are also free to make your own opinions.
