Xiaomi has just announced its latest flagship phone Mi Mix 3 at an event in China. The phone is same as we saw in previous leaks. It comes with a magnetic slider design for its selfie camera.
The Mi Mix 3 features a 6.4-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display and the company claims screen to body Ratio of 93.4%. The rear panel is mounted on a magnetic slider that reveals the dual front camera when you slide it out. You can also answer a call, take a selfie, open the shortcuts drawer and do more just by sliding the back up. The company has also given the option to personalize the sound of screens sliding. This slider has been rated to last for 300,000 cycles.
The phone packs 2.8GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 845 64-bit 10nm Soc with Adreno 630 GPU. It comes in several RAM and storage models including 6GB LPDDR4x RAM with 128GB (UFS 2.1) storage, 8GB LPDDR4x RAM with 128GB / 256GB (UFS 2.1) storage and 10GB LPDDR4x RAM with 256GB (UFS 2.1) storage.
The phone runs on MIUI 10 out of the box it also as a dedicated button on the left side for Xiao AI assistant. This assistant can only speak Chinese, so it will not be available outside China. The company could replace it with Google Assistant for other countries, but we are not sure if this will happen.
The phone features a dual camera with 12 megapixels primary sensor having 26mm wide-angle lens, Sony IMX363 sensor, f/1.8 aperture, 4-axis OIS, Optical zoom and 12 megapixels secondary sensor having Samsung S5K3M3+ sensor, 1.0 µm pixel size, f/2.4 aperture, 2X zoom. The rear camera setup can also record 4K videos and 960 fps slo-mo recording.
Xiaomi also confirmed that the phone scored 103 points on DxOMark with Photo score of 108 points and video score of 93 points.
The phone also has dual front camera with 24 megapixels primary and 2 megapixels secondary sensor. It claims to feature Super Pixel low-light tech and a customized high CRI selfie light.
Connectivity features include Dual 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11ac dual-band (4×4 MU-MIMO ), Bluetooth 5, GPS/GLONASS/Beidou, NFC and USB Type-C. There will also be a 5G version of the phone, but it will come in Q1 2019.
It packs 3850mAh battery with support to fast charging and it also supports 10W Qi wireless charging.
The price for the 6/128 GB variant is CNY3,299, the 8/128 GB is CNY3,599, while the 8/256 GB is CNY3,999. The 10GB variant is called Forbidden City and comes in a different hue of Blue with the gold-plated statue of a mythical Chinese creature in the back. It costs CNY4,999,
