As expected, Razer has announced Razer Phone 2, the successor of Razer Phone from last year. The new gaming phone comes with improved specs.

The phone looks identical to the first but it has a new aluminum frame. Dimensions measure 158.5 x 78.99 x 8.5 mm. There is also a glass back. It comes in glossy ‘Mirror’ version and matte ‘Satin’ version. It also has RGB light-up logo on the back. The lights come from Razer’s Chroma brand, are customizable to over 16.8 million colors and you can also set custom lighting effects for things like app notifications.

Razer Phone 2 features a 5.72-inch Quad HD IGZO LCD UltraMotion display with Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The display has 120Hz refresh rate. It means screen refreshes twice as often as a regular smartphone. This is the main selling point for gamers. This year display jumps to 580 nits of brightness from 380 nits from last year. The improvement of 50 percent is impressive.

The phone is powered by 2.8GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 845 processor with Vapor Chamber Cooling technology that is used on its Blade 15 laptop. It has Adreno 630 GPU for handling graphics. The phone has 8 GB RAM with 64GB storage and you can expand storage up to 2TB.

The phone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo but it is upgradeable to Android 9.0 Pie.

The phone has a dual camera on the back with 12 megapixels f/1.75 wide-angle lens and 12MP f/2.6 aperture telephoto lens. It also has OIS and Dual PDAF. The phone also has 8 megapixels front camera with f/2.0 aperture.

It has a side-mounted Fingerprint sensor. There are Stereo front-facing speakers with Dual amplifiers, Dolby Atmos, 24-bit DAC Audio Adapter. So, audio experience will be good.

The phone is also water resistant with the IP67 rating. Connectivity features of the phone include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 5, GPS/ GLONASS, USB Type-C and NFC.

It packs 4000mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ and support to wireless charging.

Along with the phone, Razet is also introducing other mobile gaming products that are Razer Raiju Mobile game controller for $150, Razer Hammerhead USB-C wired in-ear headset with active noise cancellation for $100.

The phone will be sold unlocked for $799 in the United States. We are not sure when it will come to the Indian market.
