Asus Zenfone Max M1 First Impressions: The Improved Zenfone Lite L1

Asus Zenfone Max M1

Along with Asus Zenfone Lite L1, Asus has also launched Asus Zenfone Max M1. This phone can also be seen as a better variant of Asus Zenfone Lite L1 with more RAM and Storage, larger battery and fingerprint sensor. I have been using this phone for past 3 days and here are the first impressions of Asus Zenfone Max M1.

Asus Zenfone Max M1 is of the same size as the Zenfone Lite L1, but the look is inspired by Zenfone Max Pro M1. Asus Zenfone Max M1 also has plastic build with a metallic finish. The right side has volume rocker and power button. The left side has a triple card slot that has two SIM slots and one microSD card slot. The top side has 3.5mm headphone jack and the base side has a micro USB port along with the speaker. The back side has single camera setup at top left side. The fingerprint sensor is at the center of the back.

The phone is easy to hold even with one hand and is not much slippery. The curvey edges offer good grip. It looks good and feels solid.

Asus Zenfone Max M1 features a 5.45-inch Display with 2.5D glass and 18:9 aspect ratio. The display offers good viewing angles and nice colors. It also works fine in outdoors.

The phone packs 1.4GHz octa-core Snapdragon 430 with Adreno 505 GPU. It has 3 GB RAM. While the setup is same as in Zenfone Lite L1, the phone performs better due to large RAM. I didn’t test gaming yet, but the phone handles day to the task well. It runs on ZenUI 5 based on Android Oreo. ZenUI is also smooth with few minor lags while app switching. I will talk about performance in the final review of the phone.

It comes with 32GB of storage with an option to expand storage. It also comes with 100 GB free Google Drive promotional offer.

The phone has a 13 megapixels rear camera with LED flash. It also has an 8-megapixel front camera with soft LED flash. I used the camera a few times and found it good. Front camera impresses more than the rear camera. But, I am not giving my verdict yet. So, wait for the final review of the phone to know about the camera of the phone.

The phone has face unlock that is a bit slow and takes around second in unlocking. It also has fingerprint sensor that is also slow but accurate.

The phone has 4G, WiFI, Bluetooth, micro USB, and GPS connectivity options.  The phone has 4000 mAH battery that can easily offer a day usage. The phone also comes with 10W charger. There are even options for further optimization of battery and getting a better battery backup. I have not tested the exact battery backup and charging time. I will talk about these things in the final review video.

Asus Zenfone Max M1

The phone has same display and processor as in Zenfone Lite L1 but other things are better. This is the reason, I see this phone as an upgraded Zenfone Lite L1. While the phone looks good, it has tough competition with Realme C1 that comes with Snapdragon 450, dual camera and larger battery. This phone also supports reverse charging.
