Asus Zenfone Lite L1 First Impressions: An Impressive Entry-level Phone

Zenfone Lite L1

After getting success in mid-range with Zenfone Max Pro M1 and Zenfone 5Z, now Asus has aimed the entry-level segment that is the biggest market in the country. Asus has launched two smartphones Asus Zenfone Lite L1 and Asus Zenfone Max M1. I have talked about Zenfone Max M1 in a separate article. Here, I will be talking about my initial impressions of the Asus Zenfone Lite L1.

Asus Zenfone Lite L1 is priced at Rs. 5999 and will be available from Flipkart.

Asus Zenfone Lite L1 comes with a plastic build with a metallic finish to give it a better look. The phone is considerably smaller and easily fits in your palm. Volume buttons and power button are at the right side. You can easily reach these buttons. The top side has a headphone jack. At the left, it has a triple card slot where you can add two SIM cards and a microSD card. The base side has speaker grille and a micro USB port. At the back side, it has a rear camera with LED flash at the top left side and Asus branding at center.

The edges on the back have curves to offer good grip. The phone is not slippery and easily fits in hand.

The phone has 5.45-inch HD+ Display with 18:9 aspect ratio. The display offers good viewing experience in both indoor and outdoors.

The phone is powered by 1.4GHz octa-core Snapdragon 430 processor with Adreno 505 GPU and 2 GB RAM. Considering the price, this setup is good and you are getting one of the best processors the brand could offer. It handles day to day tasks well, but 2 GB RAM is not much to give you good multitasking. So, the company has given a Mobile manager app to clean RAM if you want, manage data usage, manage auto start and battery saving options.

The phone runs on Zen UI 5 based on Android Oreo that brings limited pre-installed apps and offers a clean interface.

The phone comes with 16GB of storage from which around 7 GB will be available for users. Storage is expandable with a dedicated microSD card slot. Users will also get 100 GB of Google Drive storage free for one year.

It has 13 megapixels rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and LED flash. The front side has 5 megapixels camera with f/2.4 aperture and soft LED flash. The phone also comes with Pixelmaster technology to give you good camera performance even with an entry level device.

The phone lacks a fingerprint sensor but it supports Face Unlock. The Face Unlock is not much fast and it takes around a second to recognize you and unlock the phone.

Another notable thing on the phone is its sound. The phone comes with a single speaker unit located on the base side that is Loud enough. But the ZenUI offers AudioWizard that allows you to use available sound modes and even set the bass and trebles. You can also use the Equalizer if you know how to use it. So, you can have personalized music depending on your preferences.

Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and micro USB.

The phone packs 3000 mAh battery and promises a full day battery life. You also have battery optimization options to further boost the battery backup. I am still testing the phone and haven’t checked the battery related claims. I will talk about it in the final review of the phone.

Asus Zenfone Lite L1 is the entry-level phone with basic specifications, but without compromising with performance. The phone looks good in initial usage, but I still need some time to check everything properly before giving my verdict. I will be coming with the full review of the phone soon. Stay tuned Techlomedia for all the updates.
