A few hours back, OnePlus announced its latest flagship phone OnePlus 6T. The phone comes with all-new design and improved specs. It still packs same octa-core Snapdragon 845 with 6GB and 8 GB RAM options. The camera setup remains the same, but there are a couple of changes to make OnePlus 6T better than OnePlus 6.

New Design

OnePlus 6T still comes with metal frame and a slightly curved glass back, but the design is not the same that we saw in OnePlus 6. The new phone is thicker and heavier than its predecessor. OnePlus 6T is 8.2 mm thick and weighs 185 grams as compared to 7.75 mm thickness and 177 grams weight of OnePlus 6.

The most notable change in design is the size of the notch. The new phone comes with a smaller notch that is in a teardrop shape as compared to rectangular notch in OnePlus 6. OnePlus 6T doesn’t have a fingerprint sensor on the back, as it has been added under the display.

OnePlus 6T still comes in same Midnight Black and Mirror Black color options. And I also expect the launch of Amber Red in the coming weeks.

Display

The OnePlus 6T comes with 6.41-inch 1080 x 2340 AMOLED display with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9 as compared to 6.28-inch 1080 x 2280 AMOLED screen with an aspect ratio of 19:9 in OnePlus 6. So, the display is slightly larger and has a slightly higher resolution. Still, the pixel density remains same 402 PPI.

OnePlus 6T has Gorilla Glass 6 protection while the display of OnePlus 6 had Gorilla Glass 5.

Fingerprint Sensor

As I noted in the design section, the new phone features under-display fingerprint sensor as compared to a physical rear-mounted fingerprint sensor in OnePlus 6. This new fingerprint sensor is slower but of course, a new tech to be included. OnePlus claims that they have the fastest under-display fingerprint sensor.

No Headphone Jack

This time OnePlus has also dropped headphone jack. This move was already confirmed by the company a few weeks back when they launched type-C Bullet earphones. The reason onePlus gave was the lack of space after adding a larger battery and under display fingerprint sensor. Whatever may be the reason, you don’t have headphone jack this time and the company has included the Type-C to 3.5mm dongle in the box.

Battery

OnePlus has added a larger battery this year. OnePlus 6T packs 3700 mAh battery as compared to 3300 mA battery in OnePlus 6. Hopefully, this larger battery will also offer a larger battery.

There is another small change in storage option. The company now offers just 128GB and 256 GB storage options.
