Vivo V11 Pro First Impressions

Vivo V11 Pro

Yesterday, Vivo launched its new flagship phone Vivo V11 Pro. The phone becomes first of V series to feature in-display fingerprint sensor. But this is not the only notable feature of the phone. The phone has a lot more to offer.

Vivo V11 Pro feels really premium even if it features a all-plastic build. That is because of glass finish on the back but it also makes phone bit slippery. The phone feels slim and light. It has volume rocker at the right along with power button. The left side has SIM card slot. The base side has speaker, microUSB and 3.5 headphone jack.

The front side is dominated by the Halo View display. The phone has big 6.4-inch display, but doesn’t look as big due to is bezel-less design. The phone features a tiny notch similar to one on the Oppo F9 Pro. The notch houses front camera and IR sensor. So, the screen-to-body ratio is 91.27 %. The Full HD+ Super AMOLED performs really well as it offers nice colors and excellent viewing angles.

Vivo V9 Pro is powered by octa-core Snapdragon 660 processor with AI Engine to offer good performance. It also has Adreno 512 GPU to handle graphics and 6GB of RAM for good multitasking. I didn’t get enough chance to play PUBG like heavy games and test the heavy gaming. But I tried the some light games that were really smooth and didn’t mace any major heating or performance issues

It runs on Funtouch OS 4.5 based on Android 8.1 (Oreo). The UI is heavily customised and comes with few UI specific features to improve experience. It comes with 64GB storage that is expandable up to 256GB with a microSD card.

The phone features a dual camera setup that includes 12 megapixels primary and 5 megapixels secondary sensors. The main camera features f/1.8 aperture and 1.28μm pixels. Rear camera also has AI scene detection. It has 25 megapixels front camera that captures really goo photos. It also features AI Face Shaping technology to improve your face and beautify your selfies. I didn’t test camera properly, just captured few random shots. I found that phone camera performs well in both day light and low light. I still need more time before giving any verdict on camera.

The phone has IR face unlock that is accurate and quickly unlocks the phone. It even works fine in low light. I tested that and it is really impressive. It also has in-display fingerprint sensor that makes this phone attractive and is a nice feature to show off. If you are using IR Face Unlock, you won’t use the in-display fingerprint sensor as the Face unlock is much faster and more accurate.

Vivo V11 Pro

The phone features Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz / 5GHz) 2×2 MIMO , Bluetooth 5 LE and GPS + GLONASS connectivity options. The phone packs 3400 mAh battery that is also an upgrade over Vivo V9. It also features Dual Engine Fast charge.

Vivo V11 Pro comes an upgrade over Vivo V9 and its interesting to see such a big upgrade that brings lot more than its predecessor. The phone has upgraded processor, improved design, smaller notch, in-display fingerprint sensor and larger battery.

At this price, the phone will compete against Oppo F9 Pro or Poco F1. Poco F1 is for power users who need high-end performance but design is not premium and camera is also not of flagship level. Oppo F9 Pro is not as good in performance as Poco F1, but looks really good, offers in-display fingerprint sensor, IR Face Unlock and awesome camera performance.
