Apple Watch Series 4 Comes with New Design and Bigger Display

Apple watch series 4

Apple has just unveiled the all new Apple Watch Series 4 at Apple event.

The series 4 comes with a major design overhaul. Now it has nearly edge-to-edge display, that helped Apple in fitting larger display on the watch. The display is 30 percent bigger and shows more information. Even with larger display, the overall volume of Series 4 is less than the Series 3 model and it is also thinner.

Apple has updated the UI to show more information in apps like photos, calendar and Maps. Speaker has also been redesigned to offer 50% louder audio. Microphone has been placed on the opposite side of speaker to avoid echo.

The back side of the watch is now black ceramic. The digital crown has been upgraded and it now includes haptic feedback. The LTE red dot indicator is now a ring.

New Apple Watch packs dual-core 64-bit S4 processor designed by Apple’s silicon team. Apple claims that is will offer two times better performance than previous models.

Along with optical heart rate sensor, it also has ability to take an electrocardiogram (EKG). You just need to open an app and put your finger on the digital crown to trigger the EKG. Apple has also received the clearance from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the US to allow its Watch to be used as a medical device.

Updated accelerometer and gyroscope functionality offers all-day activity tracking. Apple Watch series 4 can also detect if you had fallen and can send alerts to emergency contacts in this case.

It will be available in three color options including Silver, Gold and Space Grey.

Apple Watch Series 4 includes Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity along with Wi-Fi and LTE (optional). Apple has not improved the battery life. So, Series 4 offers up to 18 hours of battery life.

There will be separate “GPS” (Wi-Fi/Bluetooth only) and “Cellular” versions. Apple Watch Series 4 GPS costs $399 and $499 for the LTE model. Pre-orders start at September 14 and will be shipped starting September 21.
