Samsung Announces Galaxy Home Speaker With Bixby Smart Assistant

Samsung has finally jumped into smart speaker segment with the launch of its smart speaker called “Galaxy Home”. It will be competing with Amazon Echo, Google Home, Apple Home Pod and similar smart speakers.

It looks big weird in design but features premium finish. It has metal tripod stand and a cloth-covered speaker unit with built-in subwoofer for rich bass.

It is a smart speaker and packs eight microphones built-in for far-field voice recognition. So, it can listen to your voice commands from long distances. To activate, you just need say “Hi Bixby” and give it a command. You can ask it to start playing music, open an app or something else.

Samsung has also partnered with Spotify. So, you can play music from the streaming-service on the Home.

There is also integrated company’s SmartThings platform. So, you can also control array of compatible smart home devices via the Bixby assistant.

Samsung has not confirmed the pricing or availability details right now. It only said that we will get more details at its Developers Conference in San Francisco later this year.
