Xiaomi is the number 1 smartphone brand in India in terms of market share. But it didn’t get good response from Indian consumers for its premium phones. Now the company has introduced a new brand Poco for launching phones with flagship features at aggressive pricing. The first phone Poco F1 comes with aggressive pricing that one couldn’t guess. The phone with Snapdragon 845 starts at just Rs. 20999.

Unlike other flagship phones, it doesn’t come with glass back of metal unibody build. It has polycorbonate build but different attractive colorful options are available. Front side is being dominated by the display and it has a notch housing front camera, proximity sensor, IR sensor and earpiece. The right edge has volume rocker and power button. It has SIM card slot at the left side. The top side has headphone jack while the base side has speaker and USB Type-C port. The back side has vertical dual camera setup at the center with fingerprint sensor just below it. The LED flash is located at right of the camera setup.

The phone feels solid in hand. The build quality is good, but it doesn’t look premium. The company will be selling official Skins and cases for at a cheaper price. So, you have several colorful options for making the phone attractive.

The phone has 6.18-inch Full HD+ Display with Corning Gorilla Glass protection. The display looks good and has wide viewing angles. It also has good colors and enough brightness to offer good viewing experience in outdoors.

It runs on Android 8.1 (Oreo) with MIUI 9, but comes with POCO launcher. The launcher adds an smart app drawer that makes app access quicker and lets you quickly access hidden apps. The UI has been optimised to offer faster apps open and better RAM management.

The phone packs octa-core Snapdragon 845 processor with Adreno 630 GPU. You have three different variant including 6GB/64GB, 6GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB variants. You can go with any of these depending on your need. The phone also features LiquidCool Tech to provide thermal efficiency. So, the phone doesn’t heat much and allows processor to run on peak performance for longer time. So, the phone is a beast in terms of performance. If you want a good gaming device without paying much, this one should be your option.


It has a dual camera setup that offers 12MP primary camera with dual LED Flash, f/1.9 aperture, 1.4μm pixel size, Sony IMX363 sensor, Dual Pixel auto focus and 5MP secondary 5MP with Samsung sensor. I didn’t get much time to check the camera. I just took few shots that impresses. The 20 megapixels front camera also perform well. POCO talks a lot about AI features but I need time to check and talk about those.

The phone has IR face unlock that is better than software based Face Unlock you get in several other phones. It is fast and works even in low light. It also has fingerprint sensor that works good.

It has Dual 4G+ VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 5, GPS + GLONASS and USB Type-C connectivity. It has 4000 mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging. You will get 18W of charger.

The phone starts at Rs. 20,999 and you are getting a phone with Snapdragon 845 and 6GB RAM. There couldn’t be a better deal than this. The phone is best to go with. The closest competitors of the phone are Zenfone 5Z and OnePlus 6. Now see the price difference of both the phones. It has no close competitor in the segment is belong. Now the only issue with the phone will be the availability. Like other Xiaomi phones, this phone will also be hard to get.
