Reliance Jio announces JioGigaFiber broadband service for 1100 cities

On Thursday, Reliance Jio announced the launch its broadband service JioGigaFiber. The broadband service will be available in 1,100 cities across the country.

JioGigaFiber service offers GigaFiber router along with the Jio GigaTV set-top box. The set-top box will allow users to make video calls to other GigaTV devices or mobile connections on any network in India

Jio GigaFiber was already available in several locations as a part of testing. The company claims to offer speed of up to 1Gbps.

GigaTV subscribers can use voice commands on a microphone-enabled TV remote to access Jio apps such as Jio TV, Jio Cinema, Jio TV Call, and other. You can even use it to make calls to other TV that is powered by Jio GigaFiber. You can even make call to a mobile connected to any network.

Jio will not charge anything for installation of the fibre line but there will be security deposit because of the ONT device. The amount can be paid using debit card, credit card, Jio Money or PayTM.

Registration for Jio GigaFiber will start from August 15 from the MyJio app and Jio.com. The company will start serving customers based on priority of localities based on the interest it has received from registrations.
