Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 (6GB) Impressions: Comes With Better Performance and Improved Camera

Zenfone Max Pro M1 6GB Review

Finally the wait is over and Asus has released the 6GB variant of Zenfone Max Pro M1 in India. Many people have been waiting for this variant for long because it is not just a better RAM variant but also comes with a better camera.

There is no change in the design. It comes with same metal unibody build. So, I am not going into the detail of design and build. In short, the phone comes with good build quality. Even with large 5000 mAh battery, it feels compact.

The phone has same 5.99 inch Full HD+ display with 2.5D curved glass and 18:9 Aspect ratio. The display is same and offers brilliant viewing experience. It works excellent, offers good color experience, and nice viewing angles.

The phone runs on Android 8.1.0 Oreo with stock Android. It just brings Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, FM Radio, Sound recorder and calculator as bloat. As UI has no custom modifications, this offers smooth experience.

The major upgrade in this variant is its RAM. So, the phone now comes with 1.8GHz octa-core Snapdragon 636 processor with 6GB RAM. That is the reason the phone offers better performance and improved multitasking. I reviewed the 3GB RAM variant and I can genuinely feel the difference in performance. Games are now smoother and you won’t see any single lag on daily usage.

If I talk about Benchmark Score, they are now much better. The phone has 64GB of storage with dedicated microSD card slot to expand. You also get 100GB of free storage for a year on Google Drive.

The camera is another thing that has been improved a lot. I did the camera review of the phone if you didn’t go through that, you should. I talked about its good camera performance from the rear camera but the front camera was not as good as one can expect. That problem has been solved now and this phone comes with better selfie camera and rear camera also perform better. It has dual rear camera that includes 16 megapixels (f/2.0, PDAF) and 5 megapixels (f/2.4, 1.12µm, depth sensor) sensors with soft LED flash. It also has 16 megapixels front camera with soft light flash. In lower variants, the front camera is of 5 megapixels.

The camera app is same but processing has been improved. So, both rear and front camera perform better. Here are few camera samples for your reference. I will publish a dedicated camera review soon.

The phone has dedicated microSD card slog along with 2 SIM card slots. It has good 5magnet speaker with NXP amplifier. So, the sound is loud. You also get Maxbox that improved the loudness of the sound if you need.

It features fingerprint sensor that works well. The Face Unlock has also been improved. It was not much accurate in the lower variant of Zenfone Max Pro M1 that I reviewed few weeks back.

It packs 5000 mAh Li-Ion battery that performs great and you can easily get 2 days of usage.

I also compared the Zenfone Max Pro M1 and Redmi note 5 Pro. In comparison, Redmi note 5 Pro was basically beating the Zenfone Max Pro M1 in terms of camera. But Asus has now improved that to finally make Zenfone Max Pro M1 a true Redmi note 5 Killer.Zenfone Max Pro M1 will go on sale later today. If you have been waiting for this phone, your wait is over now. For just Rs. 14999, this phone is a brilliant deal. It has everything you wish to have in a phone of this price range. I am using this phone and will be coming with a dedicated camera review soon. So follow Techlomedia on different social media platforms for all the latest updates.
