Instagram is considering to uplift the video length restriction. As per The Wall Street Journal, Instagram will soon allow users post clips of up to an hour. If this happens, Instagram will also come in direct competition with YouTube and Facebook.
Videos are now very popular on Instagram but users cannot post a video of more than a 1 minute length. If you go to explore section, you will see videos and photos mixed. But opening a single video can engage you for hours as it starts playing next videos one by one
Instagram will focus on vertical videos that people usually capture from front camera. Instagram Stories are also designed in the same way.
It is not clear when the feature will be available. We are also not sure if this is just in consideration or the company has started working on that. Until now, Instagram has just focused on short videos and got success. The next move will surely put it in direct competition of its own parent company Facebook. Facebook will also go ahead with this move as it fails to grab attention of teens where Instagram is much popular among them.
It will also be interesting to see if Instagram also allows users monetize their videos and earn from that. YouTube is still popular because creators earn considerable income from their hard work.
Instagram spokesperson declined to comment on this news. So, we have no idea what is cooking there. What do you guys think about this move? DO you think Instagram has capabilities to compete with YouTube? Let us know in the comments.
