BlackBerry KEY2 with 4.5-inch Display, QWERTY keyboard, Dual Camera Announced

After several leaks, finally BlackBerry has announced its latest smartphone BlackBerry KEY2 at an event in New York. BlackBerry KEY2 will be available for $649 in US, €649 in Europe, £579 in UK and $829 in Canada.

BlackBerry KEY2 looks like a traditional BlackBerry phone. It features a 4.5-inch display with 3:2 aspect ratio. Below the display, it has 4-row QWERTY physical backlit keyboard with keys that respond to touch gestures and support for flick typing. There are 52 customizable shortcuts and the fingerprint sensor is built into the spacebar.

There is a new dedicated key called ‘Speed key’. It lets you launch apps by pressing the key and the letter assigned to the app.

BlackBerry KEY2 is powered by Octa Core Snapdragon 660 processor with Adreno 512 GPU and 6GB RAM. The phone comes in 64GB and 128GB storage models with option to expand storage up to 2TB with microSD card. It runs on Android 8.1 Oreo.

The phone has dual camera setup on the back. It has 12 megapixels primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture, 1.14µm pixel size, 79.3-degree wide-angle lens and Dual PDAF along with 12 megapixels secondary sensor with f/2.6 aperture, 1.0µm pixel size and 50-degree lens. It also has 8 megapixels front camera.

The phone supports 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4 & 5 GHz), Bluetooth 5 LE, GPS / GLONASS, NFC and USB 3.0 Type-C connectivity options. It packs 3360mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0

BlackBerry KEY2 will begin shipping globally beginning this month. The company has not confirmed when this phone will be coming to India or other Asian markets.
