Asus has quietly launched its new smartphone Asus ZenFone Ares in Taiwan. The phone is for AR (Augmented Reality) and VR (Virtual Reality) content and looks identical to last year’s ZenFone AR.

Asus ZenFone Ares comes with 5.7-inch Super AMOLED 2K display with Corning Gorilla 4 protection and 1440 x 2560 pixels resolution. The phone is powered by Snapdragon 821 which is paired with 8GB of RAM. It also comes with 128GB of expandable storage. The phone runs on Android Nougat.

Asus ZenFone Ares

The phone has 23 megapixels rear camera with f/2.0 sensor (Sony IMX318), 4-axis OIS and EIS, laser AF, and tons of shooting mode. It also has depth and motion tracking sensor. The phone also comes with 8 megapixels front camera with f/2.0 sensor.

It has dts-HD audio support, a built-in NXP smart amplifier and SonicMaster 3.0 for hi-res audio. It supports dual-band Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 4.2 for connectivity. It also has fingerprint scanner located on physical home button below the display. It packs 3,300 mAh with Quick Charge 3.0 support.

ZenFone Ares is only for Taiwan and is now available at a starting price of TWD 9,999 ($333).
