At its developers conference F8, Facebook announced few new features for Instagram as well. The company has confirmed the video calling feature for Instagram. Instagram has already started rolling out this feature to few users.

Video calls will allow you to tap to a person or small group. However, the company didn’t specify the maximum number of people that can participate in a video call at a given time. To start a video chat, you need to tap on camera icon at the top of a direct thread.

You can also minimise video screen during conversation and continue to browse Instagram.

Not just video calls, Instagram has also introduced AR filters. While the core concept of this is same that we used on Messenger but with a difference. Here, people will be exposed to user-designed filters based on the accounts that they follow. People will be able to design unique and interactive filters using AR Studio. Users will also be able to try filters directly from their friends’ Stories. So, they can explore more filters and try if they like it.

The company has also updated the export page. Now, you will be able to browse more content related to your interests. The new explore will organize suggested content into relevant topic channels.

Video chats and new explore are both in testing ad will be rolled out soon to all.
