Twitter is working on ‘Secret’ encrypted messages feature

It seems Twitter wants users to start using its DMs for worthy conversations. The company is working on encrypted direct messages that could make it a better lace to have sensitive communications.

Jane Manchun Wong found this feature in Twitter for Android APK. This feature has not been launched yet but its presence in code shows that the company was testing it before making it official.

The screenshots shows the option to start the conversation and see the both your own and your conversation partner’s encryption keys to verify a secure connection.

It is worth to note that Edward Snowden asked Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey for introducing encrypted DM almost 18 months back and the reply to Snowden was positive.

Twitter’s DM have become a powerful way for people to connect strangers without having phone number and messages. While most of the people still see Twitter as open messaging platform, DMs have also bee used by many. After the introduction of encryption, it will surely see more users.
