HTC U12+ With 6-inch HDR10 Display, Snapdragon 845 Announced

HTC has officially announced its latest flagship smartphone HTC U12+. Unlike previous year, the company has not launched the U12 because it felt people were more interested in U11+ than U11. So, they decided to go with single model this year.

HTC U12+ features 6-inch SuperLCD 6 display with 2880×1440 pixels resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass protection. The display also supports HDR10 content. The phone is powered by Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor with Adreno 630 GPU. It has 6GB LPDDR4X RAM and comes in 64GB or 128GB storage (UFS 2.1) models. Storage is also expandable up to 2TB.

The phone runs on Android 8.0 (Oreo) with HTC Sense UI. HTC has also improved Edge Sense and the company calls it Edge Sense 2. Users can now train the different gesture methods to perform specific actions on any app. The phone can interpret how you’re holding the phone and stops the screen from rotating.

The phone has dual rear camera where it has 12 megapixels primary sensor and 16 megapixels secondary Telephoto sensor. Camera features OIS, dual LED flash, PDAF and Laser auto focus. It also offers 2X optical zoom and 10X digital zoom. It supports 4k recording, at 60 fps and 240fps slo-mo videos at 1080p. It also scored 103 on DXOMARK.

It also has dual front carat where it has 8 megapixels primary sensor and 8 megapixels secondary sensor. Front camera offers real-time bokeh effects and AR stickers.

It supports USB-C audio, HTC USonic with Active Noise Cancellation, HTC BoomSound Hi-Fi edition and Hi-Res audio certified.

The phone has IP68 rating for water and dust resistance. Dimensions measure 156.6×73.9×8.7-9.7mm and it weighs 188g. The phone comes in Translucent Blue, Ceramic Black and Flame Red colors

Connectivity features include Dual 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 ac (2.4 and 5 GHz), Bluetooth 5, GPS with GLONASS, NFC and USB Type-C. It packs 3500 mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging.

The phone is now available for pre-order in the U.S. and Europe. Shipping will start later this month of next month depending on the region. 64GB model costs $799 and 128GB model costs $849.
