Oppo has officially announced its new smartphones OPPO R15 and R15 Dream Mirror Edition at an event in China. The Dream Mirror Edition comes in two colors: Dream Mirror Red and Ceramic Edition. Now the phones are available for pre-order and will go on sale in China on April 1.
Unlike previous R series smartphones, Oppo has used glass back instead of a metal unibody build. The phone also comes with iPhone X style notch that we already saw in leaks.
The phone comes with 6.28-inch Full HD OLED display with 2280 × 1080 pixels resolution and 19:9 aspect ratio. The screen-to-body ratio is claimed to be 90%. Oppo R15 runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with ColorOS 5.0 at the top of it.
The phone is powered by Octa Core MediaTek Helio P20 12nm processor with ARM Mali-G72 MP3 GPU. The phone has 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. The storage is also expandable up to 256GB.
It has a dual camera setup that includes 16 megapixels primary sensor with LED Flash, f/1.7 aperture, 1/2.6″ Sony IMX519 sensor, 1.22μm pixel size, EIS and 5 megapixels secondary sense with f/2.2 aperture. The camera setup comes with AI Intelligent Scene Recognition which can recognize 16 kinds of scenes and 120 kinds of multi-scene combinations to offer you better camera experience. It also comes with AI portraits with built-in AI chip.
It also has 20 megapixels front camera with f/2.0 aperture. The front camera comes with AI smart beauty and utilises 3-HDR technology for real-time grading exposure. The AI smart beauty claims to scan 296 feature points of the face to offer better selfies.
The phone also got a fingerprint sensor located on the rear panel.
Connectivity features of the phone include 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 4.2, GPS + GLONASS and USB Type-C. It packs 3450 mAh battery with support to VOOC Flash Charging.
The Oppo R15 Dream Mirror Edition is the same in terms of specifications. The only change is in the battery. R15 Dream Mirror Edition packs 3400 mAh battery as compared to 3450 mAh battery in R15.
OPPO R15 comes in Snow White, Hot Red and Star Purple color options. The dimensions measure 155.3 × 75.0 × 7.5mm and weight is 175g.

Oppo team do not launch its R series of smartphones in India. So, I have no hope of seeing Oppo R15 and R15 Dream Mirror Edition. But the company has its F series that gets regular upgrades.
