Facebook Is Testing 14-Day Expiry Time for Pending Friend Requests

Facebook

Facebook has made a new change that affects the way people respond to friend requests. Now the friendship requests will not wait for more than 14 days for you to respond. If you do not respond in 14-days, it will be automatically rejected.

TechCrunch was first to report this new change and it also got confirmation from Facebook as well. For now, the change is only available to selected number of users, not everyone.

If you are lucky enough to be in test group, you will see a “14 days to respond” countdown on friend request. There will also be a “Learn More” link to learn more about this new change.

The new change will help in cleaning the request queue. That is also a nice change and aims to reduce spam requests. It will also solve problem of people getting so many requests from unknown persons. The app only allows you to have 5,000 friends. So, there is also a limit of number of pending friend request you can have. It will always be 5,000 minus your friend count. If you kept requests pending for long, there are less chances that you will ever go back and accept that request.

Facebook is already in trouble after it was accused of logging phone calls and text records. The company is also facing much criticism after the reports found out the Cambridge Analytica scandal.

We feel that there will be more changes on social network to show us how the company care for its users and privacy. We know that Facebook is tracking us and our activities but sharing that data with any advertiser is a serious offence. I hope Facebook will do that ever.
