Apple releases iOS 11.3 with Battery Management, New Animoji and More
Today, Apple released iOS 11.3 to iPad Air and later, the iPad mini 2 and later, the iPhone 5S and later, and the sixth-generation iPod touch. This is the biggest update since iOS 11 and is now available to download in supported region.
The new update addresses battery-based performance throttling on older devices. Apple had to issue a public apology for slowing down the peak processor performance in some iPhones whose battery performance have degraded to avoid unexpected shutdowns.
It comes with improved ARKit for more advanced augmented reality. AR apps to extend the mixed-world experience to vertical surfaces. ARKit is also smarter about recognizing irregularly shaped surfaces.
The iOS 11.3 also introduces 4 new Animoji characters for the iPhone X.
Update also brings Business Chat that lets users communicate directly with businesses using the Messages app on iPhone and iPad. While searching for business in Maps, Safari, Search or Siri on iPhone and iPad, users will see the option to contact business using Messages or make a purchase using Apply Pay.
Apple also added new health Records that helps patients view their medical records from multiple institutions right from the iPhone.
Apple has also made changes in the privacy options and made it easier than ever for users to understand how their personal data may be used.
