The current MacBook Air is available for $999 but Apple wants to cut the price even more and offer a laptop in the lower-premium segment. KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims that Apple is working on a new 13-inch MacBook Air and it could be launched in the second quarter of the year.

He didn’t reveal any details of the laptop but just claimed about its affordability. The current models of MacBook Air are certainly outdated. So, Upgrading these models with a cheaper price tag will surely help the company.

Apple now wants to focus on affordable products to increase the number of sales. It launched iPhone X as its most expensive iPhone but sales have been below expectations. Similar things were with recently launched iMac Pro that also costs too much. So, these products are not within reach of most of the people.

Apple saw good demand for its cheap MacBook models in emerging markets including India. So, it will be a good move if Apple brings a cheaper MacBook Air without compromising much on the performance side.

Not just cheaper MacBook Air, Apple is also believed to be working on a cheaper iPhone. Reports claim that this affordable 6.1-inch iPhone will be launched with next iteration of iPhone this year in September.

We can expect more details of this laptop at WWDC in June. If Apple is working on new MacBook Air, we can expect details at the event.
