Google Assistant Coming To Phones Running Android Lollipop and Tablets

Google Assistant was introduced last year with Pixel smartphones. After the availability of Pixel phones, Assistant was rolled out to all smartphones running Android 6.0 Marshmallow of above. Today, the company has finally started rolling out Google Assistant for all Android phones and tablets running Android 5.0 Lollipop or above.

Google Assistant replaces the existing Google Now for offering an improved experience. You can simply use voice commands to get the latest news, change phone’s settings, set alarms, send messages, make calls and get an answer to your queries. Now Google assistant can also recognize songs.

The update is coming to phones with English language settings in the US, UK, Australia, Canada, India, and Singapore. It will also be available in Spanish in the US, Mexico, and Spain, and. Brazil, Germany, Italy, Japan and South Korea are few other countries getting Assistant on phones running Android Lollipop.

Assistant on tablets will be rolling out to users with the language set to English in the U.S over the coming week.
