LG V30 vs LG G6

LG has finally unveiled its LG V30 at IFA. This phone not just offers good specs but great design. LG already has its LG G6 flagship launched a few months back. So, let’s see how this new LG V30 is different from LG G6. Here we are putting comparison based on specifications of the phone. We have not yet experienced the newly launched LG V30.

LG V30 follows the same design pattern that we saw in LG G6 but V30 is bigger and lighter. The LG V30 carries the same kind of metal frame and glass panel to look premium. At rear panel, it has dual camera setup and circular fingerprint sensor. This time flash module for the camera is positioned on the right while it was in middle of camera lenses in LG G6.

Even if the dimensions of LG V30 (151.7 x 75.4 x 7.6mm) are larger than dimensions of LG G6 (148.9 x 71.9 x 7.9mm), LG V30 is thinner and weighs less with 158g of weight. IP68 waterproofing and STD 810G drop protection are same as it was in LG G6.

LG V30 has 6-inch FullVision OLED display with 18:9 aspect and 2880 x 1440 pixels resolution. It has both Dolby Vision and HDR 10. There is also a new Floating Bar on the V30 for quick access to apps. The LG G6h has a 5.7-inch display with 18:9 aspect ratio but it had IPS LCD panel rather than OLED. While the resolution is same, LG G6 has better pixel density due to smaller display size. Here, the OLED display over LCD is an advantage in LG V30.

LG V30 comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 with 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage and microSD support. LG G6 has Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage with a microSD slot support. Here, LG V30 is better with a better chipset.

LG V30 has the same 3300 mAh battery capacity but V30 has a more advanced processor to offer better battery life.

LG V30 comes with Android Nougat with LG’s UX 6.0+. It has few extra features compared to LG G6. Even with extra software features, the software experience will be similar as we got in LG G6. LG V30 also includes facial recognition and voice recognition for unlocking.

LG V30 has dual camera setup where it has16-megapixel normal lens with a 70-degree field of view, f/1.6 aperture and a 13-megapixel wide-angle lens with a 120-degree field of view, f/1.9 aperture. The standard lens also has optical image stabilization. If we compare it with LG G6, it has two 23 megapixels sensor where one is a standard lens with f/1.8 aperture and other is wide angle lens with 125-degree wide-angle view and f/2.4 aperture. LG V0 has all the camera features that were present in LG G6.

The front camera on both the phones is 5 megapixels. In LG V30, this camera is capable of facial recognition, even when the display is off.

LG V30 places a big focus on video recording and audio support. LG G6 was good in terms of audio but, LG has improved the audio experience in LG V30. It has Quad DAC on board, as well as an MQA player.

Final Words

LG V30 has a similar design but comes with a larger display, better camera setup, mode advanced processor, improved audio & video functionality and double the storage. Even if it is lighter than LG G6, it is larger with a 6-inch display. It will be more expensive as well.

Even if LG V30 looks winner here, I still need time to check the device and then talk about the comparison after experiencing it. This comparison was based on specs on paper.
