Xiaomi Mi Max 2 is big but carries very good design. In India, it comes only in Matte Black color that makes it beautiful. The phone has an all-metal construction with rounded edges and corners. The antenna bands have been moved to the top. The phone is large in size. So, it is only for those who look for big phones. If you have small palms, you should not think about it. Using it with one-hand is not possible.
The phone has the volume rocker and the power/unlock button at right side. At the top, it has a headphone jack and IR blaster at the top side. It has speaker grille and USB type C at the base side. At the rear panel, it has a fingerprint scanner and camera module.
The phone is sleek even with large 5300 mAh battery. It has a 7.6mm thickness and weighs 211 grams.
The display is big with 6.44-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) LCD panel. The display has 2.5D curved Glass and Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The display has good viewing angles to offer nice experience.
For videos and games, this display is good. It also has dual speakers for large sound to enhance your multimedia experience.
The phone has octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor along with Adreno 506 GPU. This is the same Soc that we praised in Redmi Note 4. This Soc not just offers amazing performance but also enhanced battery life. With 4GB RAM, this phone offers nice multitasking. You get 64 GB of storage that is further expandable up to 128GB.
The phone runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat with MIUI 8. The phone comes with interesting features including Quick Ball, Dual Space, Split Window, Dual Apps and more.
The phone has 12 megapixels rear camera with f/2.2 aperture, 1.25-micron pixels size and dual-tone LED flash. It also has 5 megapixels front camera. I spent only limited time with the phone but was impressed with its performance.
The phone has 4G with VoLTE, dual band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB Type C and GPS. It has a hybrid slot. So, you can either use dual SIM or One SIM with a memory card. It is packed with 5300 mAh battery with support to Quick Charge 3.0 and parallel charging support. This phone claims to offer two days battery backup.
TheMi Max 2 is good in terms of performance. At this price, this phone is a good deal but it is not for all. The phone targets those who want a tablet but smartphone like performance. Many people like large screen devices to enjoy videos and games. So, Mi Max 2 makes sense for those.
